"Excitement was in the air at 'The Rock' as thousands gathered recently for the official launch of the new landmark shopping and leisure destination for Bury.

With more than 11,000 people visiting the development within the first hour of trading, AMF's 25,781 sq ft centre opened its doors to a hoard of inquisitive visitors, queuing six deep in the entrance foyer.

Following a series of successful preview nights, AMF Bury finally opened to the Public on Friday, 16th July with a lively blend of games and activities on offer including runaway train games, face painting, Bumper & Squeak mascot bowl-offs and live compering. The day was completed by a visit from local football team, Bury FC, who entertained onlookers by playing a few frames before signing autographs and posing for photographs with children from nearby Chesham Primary School.

Benefitting from a total investment of approximately £2.5 million, AMF Bury's state of the art centre comprises 24 fully computerised lanes offering the latest scoring and graphics, a modern Bar and Diner, and a fun-filled amusements area.
Bringing a modern flare to the centre, AMF Bury features innovative architecture and style with funky, angular designs and bespoke seating, offset with colourful neon lighting, bold walls and flooring. The centre also boasts QubicaAMF's new SPL Integra GT lanes providing durability, glow track functionality to illuminate the lanes and a variety of games packages which provide alternative scoring environments.

Enhancing the experience further is the centre's state of the art sound and lighting system which includes the latest capping light effects for a fantastic bowling atmosphere. The centre also houses interactive video jukeboxes, with the latest 40" LCD scoring screens above each lane.

With a strong focus on facilities, the centre offers all encompassing family entertainment, with large screen TVs for those wanting to keep up with the latest sports and a Bar and Diner area providing stylish seating and comfort. The centre's generous amusements area also offers an inspiring variety of brand new arcade games and drivers, as well as American pool, air hockey and a dedicated Play To Win area.
