Bring Tenpin Bowling Back to Burton

A formal petition to bring tenpin bowling back to the town of Burton was recently handed in to East Staffordshire Borough Council.

For more than two years many local residents have been left bemoaning the demise of Superbowl 2000 at The Riverside Centre.

Tenpin bowling enthusiasts Rob Gillespie and Johanna Toon decided enough was enough and went about raising awareness of their campaign through the social media networking site Facebook as well as taking their petition onto the streets of Burton.

After amassing 676 signatures from people in the local area, Mr. Gillespie handed in the petition to the council’s Chief Executive Andy O’Brien who gave his assurance that it would be discussed at the next full council meeting.

It’s expected that councillors will make contact with major bowling centres to see if they can find an interested party to bring tenpin back to Burton once again.

Leisure facilities such as tenpin bowling alleys are popular amongst all age groups and provide a fun and active alternative to sitting in the cinema or going to a local bar.

If you live in an area without a tenpin bowling facility and would like to have one, follow the lead of these residents of Burton and organise a petition to present to your local council.
